Malta, Gozo & Comino – Dos and Don’ts

Having not planned the trip as usual we found that being spontaneous pays off the most. All we knew was address of the place we are going to stay at for the first three nights in Sliema and that the weather should be around 27 degrees in late October. This was the extend of our preparation for Malta. We have learned a few things a hard way, so are some tips to keep in mind when planning to visit Malta, Gozo and Comino:

Five Don’ts:

  • do not expect to be taken on a bus even if though it still got some space
  • do not expect a bus to come on time
  • do not expect “apartments” to be apartments in St. Julians – better read all the comments on booking.com
  • do not expect to get some sleep if you are staying in St. Julians, unless you stay there with intention to party ALL NIGHT LONG
  • do not assume Gozo is “just a small island you can walk around”

Ten Dos:

  • do visit Valletta at night
  • do get sangria when sunbathing in Golden Bay
  • do plan to spend at least 2 days for Gozo
  • do try cheese cake in Gozo – pastizze
  • do take a ride to Azure Window and wander on the cliffs
  • do talk to bus drivers in Gozo to get all the best advises
  • do try octopus in garlic
  • do swim from Comino to Cominotto
  • do download google maps before any trip
  • do hold tight when riding a bus in Malta if you intend to stay alive
  • +11 – do remember to smile back to people – they will for sure smile to you 🙂
