Heavenly Isla del Infierno – Tenerife from different angles

Tenerife is one of and the biggest of 7 Canary Islands washed up by Atlantic Ocean named after “tene” meaning mountain and “ife” meaning white. Indeed a lot of white on the island and all the casas blancas makes it look like piece of heaven, though locally referred to as Isla Del Infierno.

An island, although not as extensive so that one can easily drive from North to South in about hour an a half, has a very distinct climate on both ends – more clouded and less windy on North and more exotic and sunny on South. That way during one day you can experience both, hot sunbaths in Playa de las Americas and refreshing alleys in Jardin Botanico in Puerta de la Cruz.

When selecting places for the visit, apart from getting sunburnt on Playa Los Cristianos, visit Masca. You will get all the necessary info on tripadvisor how to drive there. The surrounding areas are just stunning with the view on mountains, ocean and peaceful life people of the village lead. You can stop for a coffee on a serpentine road either to and from Masca and enjoy the view. For sure you will not be disappointed, as it is not only the view that you will be paying for, but a really good coffee as well.

On a way from Masca to Parque del Drago stop by for a lunch in a place next to Buenavista called El Burgados. Waves beating against the rocks, really good white house wine and free (!) white bread with tasty garlic sauce to start with is just a short list of what this place has to offer.

For those who enjoy spending day feeling the nature Loro Park is the place to visit. Being a natural habitat for number of animals (well taken care of!), the place is filled with good energy, is refreshing and calm. Impressive aquarium with jellyfish and sharks will make you happy as a child. Did make me feel that way at least 🙂

One day has to be reserved for North part of the island. Serpentine roads may not be the best choice for those who have a fear of heights or seasickness, otherwise you will have the best ride between green landscape of Anaga mountain starting from the oldest city of San Cristobal de La Laguna all the way through San Andres and Playa Las Teresitas and ending with current capital of the island Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
